A very humble, whispered response to an absolutely roaring reception.
Holly Humberstone hasn’t even released her debut album yet, but can already check off a sold out show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire from her to do list.
It was an amazing performance too. Every song brought the house down; the timid, quiet chat between tracks was endearing, but will also grow with experience, and her outfit… the fishnet gloves were taking me back to 2002, when Avril Lavigne was my fashion muse. Safe to say i’ve only worn my gloves once, along with the stripy tie I bought. Regrettably my camo cargo pants stuck around a year too long, but Holly made it look cool and was pulling off a look I wish I could. Very Effy Stonem.
The 22-year-old followed her critically acclaimed debut EP Falling Asleep At The Wheel (2020) with another six-track collection of songs that feel remarkably like diary entries. Turbulent feelings, personal and private relationships, mental health; The Walls Are Way Too Thin (2021) is master-class in songwriting for such a young artist.

My current top 3 tracks are ‘Overkill’, ‘Scarlett’ and ‘The Walls Are Way Too Thin’, and to emphasise how bloody good both EP’s are, Holly recently bagged herself the Brits Rising Star Award. A status she now shares with the likes of Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding.
Holly has also supported Lewis Capaldi on tour, collab’d with the incredible Sam Fender and will be joining Olivia Rodrigo for her U.S. shows later this year…. no big deal.
Holly Humberstone is an artist to watch, with a debut album I cannot wait for.
